You're very welcome! I read your comments about your design class and how they love only modern stuff... sad. I know several people who would find this very beautiful... and perhaps even trendy (i mean that in the best possible way) Very original!
When i joined this class i didn't know what design classes are about; i was too... young, ehhh. Being here for years simply made me realize that graphic design is not for me; AND also, times are *changing*. I bet this "trendy modern art" thing will go off and something new will replace it sooner or later. That somehow keeps me sane. Even though i can't know if the next madness of humanity will be better or worse.
Mmmm, thank you for your time and the kind comments.
xD! yeah china products for the win, srsly, I have never bought worse and more stinky acryl colors before I got ones in one vietnam shop near to our school... Thanks god they at least weren't expensive..
Oh i was going to say thanks (and i do it, lol), but i remembered that my graphic design teacher said this too while he *refused* these to be printed on my T-shirt homework because they are *celtic* looking ...erh.. thanks! (now, honestly >.> )
uh really? Why? It has celtic inspiration but they're definitly original. Maybe he wants you to make pink and green poos. That's SO trendy nowadays. You know, beautiful refined and delicate designs inspired from ancient art is so overrated. Everyone should make green and pink poos and put them in museums.
uh sorry >_> Brought bad memories from applied art course. The were obsessed with whatever was made with toilet paper and plastic you found in your trash bin. But WAIT you're not allowed to do anything beautiful with it! Oh no beauty is soooo overrated.
*nervous breakdown, crawls under the bed and starts hitting head against the ground while drooling*
...i think you just readed the teacher's mind. I think pink poo was exactly what he was thinking about. I have the same reactions T_T i wish i could set him on fire someday. None of my friends like modern arts, not even me, why force it then? T__T It's.. poo. Yeah.
Oh...I understand what you're going through :< All of my applied art course teachers were like this. I though I was going to come to school with some kind of flame thrower and kill everyone while laughing madly. Fortunately that didn't happen.
I don't know his it is where you live, but in france there are very very few school that keep teaching academic art. Everyone is obsessed with comtemporary-conceptual stuff...And if you dare admitting you enjoy academic art, you're laughed at.
I think your designs are original, stylish, beautiful and very neat. As I said, they would be awesome on some kind of medievalish clothes, or on leather. In fact, they're awesome jsut by themselves.
Anyway...by any chance did that people tell you it was "kitsch" ? When the teacher didn't like your stuff but wasn't able to explain why, like always they would say it's kitsch and vapid.
...eeeeeh. They teach here academic art, 8 art lessons every week *and* traditional graphic design technics too. Before getting down to this class (i'm repeating the previous year... damn) there wasn't much problem, but this class doesn't see art lessons as something enjoyable and priceless. They even make the model join their chit-chat, wich makes me unable to draw the portrait or what we have to draw. Once i had to warn them loud after they spoke 2 hours without stop I really hate speaking loud, i always think i'm guilty when i do, so i always feel bad after doing so... The new art teacher is the principal (school boss?) and he is too busy to be always here in the art lessons, so we are left alone... i'm the oldest in the class now that i repeat the year, separated from my old friends, and it's always me who wants to draw... sometimes not even the teacher respects art lessons and makes us draw something stupid modern-ish.
Eh whataver, sorry sorry sorry for bitching but it had to come out. T__T
That graphic teacher told me that there is nothing extra or original in my drawings... you know what saves me always? My doodles that i draw when i'm half asleep on lessons... 10 second to draw one. He likes those retarded things better.
Poor you :/ I've gone through the same thing exept that we didn't have ANY academic art classes. It was a true living hell. The half asleep doodles and ImadeMyCatWalkOnMySheetOfPaper with the chit-chat saved me too. But in the end i totally gave up.
Now I'm in a school with 80% of academic art/sculpure etc and animation (ew) comic strip and other fun things. When I entered that school i finally felt "at home" because the teachers there tell us exactly the contrary of the others xp Just to say that what one teacher/school thinks about your art means nothing. Because in the profesionnal world you're not expected to shit on toilet paper, but to have knowledge, techniques, method and efficiency and imagination And I think you definitly have what's needed to become an illustrator. We've got a loooong way until we succeed. But i hope we're going to make it
....must be good for you in that school... T__T i'm on graphic lesson now (on a Mac. i hate them)... i just finished a T-shirt design that illustrates two cats making love... oh come on, they are FUCKING. The teacher liked this version the most. I colored them neon-pink........ it physically hurts to do something like this but i have to survive. :€ Thanks for joining my ranting. *feels better*
I wanted the venezuelan national bird, its called a Troupial [link] Wings spread from the front, face to the side. I need the black, white and the yellow in the there, but if you could incorporate in some cool patterns like you do in these pieces but keep to the general scheme i'd be thrilled. How much would you charge?x
